Soda and Wood Fire
Currently I am not working with soda or wood fire. Theses pieces are not available for purchase.
Both soda fire and wood fire techniques are atmospheric in nature.
This means that the unique patterns on the pottery are a result of the type and quality of the air INSIDE the kiln during the firing process.
At maturing temperatures - 2305⁰F (1260⁰C) to 2530⁰F (1390⁰C) - the chemicals and elements present in the atmosphere combine with the clays, slips and glazes on the work to create colors, textures, and surface depth.
This firing technique produces different designs every time as no two firings are alike.
